World Breastfeeding Week 2021

Protect Breastfeeding:
A Shared Responsibility

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

WBW is officially celebrated on 1-7 August every year to mark the anniversary of the Innocenti Declaration. However, some countries choose to celebrate it at different times of the year.   Millions of people all over the world organise activities to celebrate WBW. Don’t forget to pledge and report your event this year!

The full set of WBW campaign materials (logo, poster, action folder and insert) will be available in the current official and working languages of the United Nations (Arabic, English, French, Mandarin, Russian, and Spanish).

Some of the WBW campaign materials will also be available in other languages. Permission must always be sought before translating any/all of the WBW campaign materials. If you are interested in translating the logo, poster and action folder into languages other than the above-mentioned, please fill in this form.

Prior written consent must always be sought before using the logo/campaign materials. The logo and campaign materials shall not be used in any way that directly or indirectly damages WABA’s reputation and/or standing, whether by content, context or association. The logo and campaign materials shall not be used in any event and/or activity sponsored, supported or organised by companies manufacturing, distributing or marketing breastmilk substitutes, feeding bottles, or teats. Please read our Copyright Notice below:

This copyright is subject to fair use, with appropriate attribution to WABA. The logo and campaign materials may be used only with the prior written consent of WABA in celebrating World Breastfeeding Week and other activities related to the protection, promotion and support of breastfeeding.

Companies sometimes use WBW to promote their products. This contravenes WABA’s working principles. WABA uses a two-pronged approach to mitigate this type of violation:

  • issues an infringement notice to those identified violators
